Templeton Ball Park
The Templeton Ball Park was originally built in the 1960’s on property adjacent to Sacred Heart School. The property was maintained by Sacred Heart Parish until 2012, at which time the City of Templeton acquired it as part of the redevelopment of the former school into a community and events center. The Templeton Sports Boosters was started in the mid-1980’s to oversee the local summer little league program. In addition to the little league program, the ball park has been the site of numerous other community events including the annual July 3rd celebration, concerts, adult slow and fast-pitch softball, Kuemper High School softball games, and the community’s 100th and 125th birthday celebrations.
Many improvements have been made to the original field over the years as funds would allow and use increased. In 2023 volunteers completed the construction of a new 60' x 26' brick concession stand with LP siding & an attached 29’ x 26’ outdoor open canopy. The new facility has a large serving area complete with 2 overhead roll-up concession windows, new cabinets and quartz countertops, several TV’s, and a new commercial cooler. There are several large storage rooms, a large open canopy exterior seating area, and fully accessible men & women’s restrooms. Renovations also included accessible parking spaces and new sidewalks and lighting to the park on Fourth Street. Funds for this project came through a local fundraising effort and the generous cash and in-kind contributions of many local businesses and individuals. The Templeton Ball Park is a beautiful and modern athletics complex that will serve the community for years to come.
