City Park & Shelter House

In 1973, the Templeton Community Betterment Club acquired the former Templeton Public School property and received grant funding through the Federal Land and Water Conservation Program to transform the property into a City Park. Several improvements were made including construction of a shelter house with complete kitchen, restroom facilities, heating and cooling.

Since it was first developed in 1973, Templeton's City Park has received numerous ongoing improvements and offers outstanding recreational opportunities. Improvements have been made possible through the generous donations of many current and past residents for playground equipment, tables, benches, flower beds, and the shelter house open canopy.

In addition to daily use of the park facilities, the Shelter House is available to rent for parties and events. Reservations can be made by contacting City Hall at (712) 669-3443 between the hours of 9 a.m. and Noon, Monday-Friday. Rules and general information for rental of the facility can be found below.
