Joseph M. Lambertz

Joe Lambertz was born in Carroll, IA, on May 16, 1935, to Frank and Mary (Jannings) Lambertz. His mother died in 1950. Joe attended school in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School with the class of 1953. He later worked at the Hotel Burke in Carroll.

Joe was inducted into the US Army in February, 1958. He was sent to Fort Ord, CA, for basic training. After completing his initial training, he was married to Barbara Kisgen, daughter of Elmer and Mabel Kisgen of Templeton. The wedding was held on May 17, 1958, at St. Justin Church in Santa Clara, CA.

By August 15, 1958, Joe was stationed at Fort Richardson near Anchorage, AK. He was assigned as a clerk-typist in the Headquarters Company of the base. By March 23, 1959, Joe had been promoted to PFC (private first class) and remained at Fort Richardson.

Joe’s two-year enlistment in the US Army ended in February, 1960, and he was discharged. Joe and his family lived in Davenport, IA, for a time but later settled in Des Moines where he worked for Anderson-Erickson Dairy. Joe died on December 1, 2010, in Des Moines at age 75. He was buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.
